Sarah Vieweg is a PhD student in the Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society (ATLAS) Institute at the University of Colorado. The ATLAS Institute serves as an entrepreneurial catalyst and incubator for innovative interdisciplinary research. A unique aspect of ATLAS is its bridging role between information and communication technology (ICT), and disciplines and communities that are not typically closely partnered with ICT.
Sarah's research interests focus on various dimensions of human-computer interaction (HCI). As a researcher in Leysia Palen's ConnectivIT Lab, Sarah investigates the use of online forums in disaster and crises, with an eye towards how people converge, assert identities, and gather and distribute information as they participate in sensemaking activities. Sarah holds an MA in linguistics, and brings ethnomethodological as well as discourse analytic methods to her research and analysis.
